I think I can, I think I can...

Yesterday was shot day 1! Man was I nervous. I had to work so I took my med stuff with me. At 6 pm I was sitting in the office with a few other nurses trying to mentally prepare to do it myself. With everyone rallying around me cheering me on, I started sweating profusely, we were laughing so hard ....I totally mentally psyched myself out. I couldn't do it. One of the girls had to do it for me. I barely even felt the poke or medicine going in, 5 units is such a tiny amount. About 5 minutes later I did have a pretty decent burning sensation in my abdomen, so when I lifted my shirt and looked down there was about a half dollar sized area reddened and super hot to the touch. Felt like a bee sting almost. Then with in a few more minutes it was gone. So once I knew what it felt like I was confident I could do it myself today! And sure enough 6 pm came around I drew up my med and got everything ready. Cleaned the skin in the area I was gonna poke with alcohol, uncapped my needle, and got it close enough to my skin without touching it, I had to look away to actually poke, but I did it. 3 seconds and it was done. All that build up for nothing. Today I didn't notice as much irritation to the site that I injected either. No other side effects noted so far, but we are only 2 days in so we will see.
Vitamins are the worst part so far-
So far the FAAB/ Folgard vitamin and the APRI birth control they have me on are the worst. Daily nausea/ upset stomach, headaches here and there, some mild diarrhea intermittently, and just kind of overall tired. I started taking the vitamins in the evening with the birth control and that seems to help me feel less crumby. But overall....could be worse.
Four and a half week until TRANSFER DAY!
